Working through my adult autism diagnosis has enabled conversations with friends and family that I would never have managed without it. Working with you has helped give me a framework that will support me in the coming days, weeks, months and years. More than that, it has helped give me a new context for many past events in my life, and helped me make so much more sense of them. I found you very easy to work with. Your approach was welcoming and friendly, but always professional. Right from the outset, you explained to me what to expect and the process continued exactly in the way that you said it would.

 

You responded quickly to my initial approach by email, and then managed to see me very quickly afterwards. Our meetings were arranged at mutually convenient times and the timings were always kept to. Your style during our meetings was supportive and neuro-affirming. As a result, I felt comfortable discussing many aspects of my life that could otherwise have been difficult. You were also very welcoming to other members of my family who helped during one of the meetings.

 

During the meetings, although they were done in a pre-arranged time slot and timescale, I never felt rushed or that I didn't have time to explain myself or that you were just trying to get through the meeting. The atmosphere in the meetings was purposeful, positive and supportive at all times. I always felt that you were listening to me and that you were interested in what I had to say. I also found your openness and willingness to receive additional information via email between our meetings very helpful because there were always things that I forgot, or neglected to mention during the meetings. The fact that you were so welcoming of such information made it easier for me to send without worrying that I might be bothering you. Your patience and your ability to boil my overly long ramblings (both by email and in the meetings) into succinct statements that captured exactly what I was trying to say is impressive.

 

Your experience, and your thorough process, including your multidisciplinary diagnostic discussion and the detailed report that you produced, gives me absolute confidence in the diagnosis that I have received.
